Southborough and Bidborough 2024

The election was held on the 2 May 2024, and I was honoured to receive the votes of 717 people in Southborough and Bidborough. Congratulations to the victorious Lib Dem candidates. We all care about our fantastic town and spend time talking to residents about the issues that matter to them. It’s important work, and long may it continue!

I am delighted to have been selected as one of the Conservative Candidates for Southborough and Bidborough for this year’s local election. Until polling day on 2 May, alongside my fantastic fellow candidates, Sarah Bridges and Peter Oakford, I will be campaigning tirelessly to ensure that Southborough and Bidborough have three energetic, passionate and above all, effective, local representatives.

Having lived in Tunbridge Wells all my life, I am so proud of the local community we have here. From growing up going to church at St Thomas’, to starting my ill-fated foray into football on the Ridgeway, I know the fantastic individuals and opportunities that our area contains. My grandparents have lived in Southborough for fifty years, and how lucky they have been to live in such a lovely area for such a long time. As your Borough Councillor, I would be determined to do all I can to support this excellent local community, and fight for change where residents want it.

As the youngest candidate in last year’s local elections, while I may not have the years of other candidates, I certainly understand the issues of the day. Not to mention, I am standing with a dedicated Town Councillor in Sarah Bridges and a seasoned Kent County Councillor in Peter Oakford. Combining their experience and insight, with my understanding of the issues facing residents of all ages and energy to serve my community, I believe we have a terrific team.

I was very lucky to receive a fantastic education from two local schools. First at St John’s CoE Primary, where I was delighted to return to work as a Teaching Assistant in my last summer holidays, and then Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys, where I served as Head Boy in my final year. Again, it was a pleasure to return to TWGSB last year to give a speech to the Sixth Form about life at university. My education at both of these schools has allowed me to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics at university. I owe so much to our local community, and am determined to do all I can to give back.

I am very keen to hear your views on what needs to be done better in Southborough and Bidborough. If I haven’t managed to speak to you on the doorstep yet, or if you’ve thought of more local issues since then, please don’t hesitate to email me at alexpuffette.tw@gmail.com
